Hulu VS. Youtube tonight on RAW

1. One thing we noticed is that the sound and picture quality on Hulu is much better than Youtube. However, it is frustrating to not be able to load a video all the way before watching it. The episodes are presented in list form and to find a show you can search in the search bar and also browse through all the titles on in alphabetical order in their television show. It looks professional and it is user friendly because everything is in order and you can browse by category as well as browse by genre and network. The site is cleaner and the ads are streamlined into the episodes and act like commercial breaks. Also there are fan favorite clips from the show and you can look for the most viewed content. In this sense viewers are still able to participate and important.

2. So we noticed that there are a lot of clips on youtube but not full episodes. We searched for several shows that we knew were floating around on youtube but it seems that they have been removed and replaced with clips from Hulu and KLTV.com which is interesting that these sites would post to a competitor to get advertising for themselves. However, we did find that robot chicken is being posted by fans on Youtube and a lot of the clips are edited so that the viewer can post what they want. They are also void of certain sound quality and picture clarity.

3. Hulu seems to have a more organized and less chaotic layout the site is also cleaner and ad friendly. It makes it easier for the viewer to find what they are looking for. The site also will redirect you to other sites with the video content you are looking for if you type what you want in the search bar. This feature is an advantage because it utilizes the same techniques that has made google so popular and allows hulu to become a hub for videos. Youtube is full of viral videos and unless you have an account it is cluttered and annoying. Hulu also sends notifications to users about their favorite shows and series and when new videos are up. Both sites you can subscribe to your favorite videos whish is helpful. Youtube would be at aqn advantage to clean up its site but I think that users have grown accustom to the way things are presented on youtube and it might drive users away to change the fundamental site operations.

watching a full episode of a TV show online, is quite different, not bad or really good just different. I really like the idea though that if I miss one of my favorite shows when it airs on TV that I can hopefully come to the internet and find it. I think this particular episode was presented well and I love that there is not 5 minutes of commericals like there is when watching TV between every clip. I do not like though that it is a smaller screen and it is not as comfertable as watching it on the TV and sometimes still not as clear of a picture, which this one did have a remarkably clear picture. Overall I would not watch my shows on Hulu or YouTube if I had the option to watch it on TV but it is a very nice fallback especially with all of the nice options that is offered.

I really really enjoy watching t.v. on the computer. I feel that it is alot more convienent, and that you as a viewer can really personalize what you watch. Your not bombarded by commercials and adversiting. I like Hulu alot better than youtube. I think that the presentation is alot more organized and professional. The picture on Hulu is also alot more clear that that on youtube. I would defianlty watch t.v. on the computer, and would recommend anyone else too.
