My current schedule keeps me from the usual amount of TV I watch. I would definitely say my viewing habits have decreased quite a bit. I was able to watch some of my regular favorites like, The New Adventures of Old Christine and Chelsea Lately. Though I have watched Oprah many times, I would not say I'm a "regular" viewer of the show, however I made it a point to see it because she was going to host a "post election" special. The media made sure to show her in the audience during President Obama's acceptance speech, and I became interested. I usually watch Lipstick Jungle, but it did not air. I'm assuming the long-dragged election was the reason. Thursday is my favorite TV day, because all my favorites come on. I set a recording this day for NBC's Thursday night comedies; The Office, 30 Rock (my favorite) , etc, because I am gone when they come on and I DO NOT want to miss them.
I usually never watch any shows on my computer. Everything I watch, I watch in the comfort of my own home on my big 65" Mitisibushi high definition television (personal preference). Because I record everything I cannot watch and save the episodes I love, I do not own any shows on dvd. Normally my husband and kids watch some of the shows w/ me, but right now our schedules conflict. However, my husband and I watched New Adventures of Old Christine and Chelsea Lately together.
I enjoyed the experience of the Nielsen Journal. It's amazing how they can somewhat keep up with that stuff. It's not 100% reliable, but they do get a general idea of who's watching what. I think it's a great way to gives us more of what we like. I did not see a difference in my viewing habits, because I made it a point to keep things normal. I change channels when I do not want to watch something, but I'm not a major flicker. Usually I try to record all the shows I like, because I've became a commercial-hater. I blame it on DVR...lost my patience. I did watch a lot less TV, but like I stated earlier that's due to my hectic schedule. Currently I have shows that I recorded on my DVR that I have not watched. like Gary Unmarried & Jimmy Kimmel Live.
