TV Time! Sarah Marbach

Sarah Marbach- Wathced TV midday on Saturday November 1st.

2. During the week I am completely consumed with homework and working 20 hours so I rarely get to watch TV. When I am able to watch TV it is on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This assignment is more than I would watch on a normal Saturday due to it being a regular work day. The shows that I watched were Rock of Love: Charm School on VH1, and then I watched The Wedding Singer also on VH1. I have never watched Rock of Love before and did not fully understand the purpose of the show. But I continued to watch because the drama that was created is amusing to watch. I wished that I could have watched The Hills re-runs because I have not seen an episode this season due to being busy with homework. I enjoy watching The Hills, because of the Hollywood lifestyles that are portrayed in the show.

3. The only way for me to watch TV would be on the television. I do not know how to watch it on the computer; also my internet connection is too slow. While watching TV, I asked my roommate to assist my blog process of watching TV. She had no objections to this assignment. We both sat on the couch and did not move a muscle.

4. My opinions over the assignment of logging the television viewed were very interesting. Watching TV is done subconsciously, and when you have to log what you watch it highlights how much or how little you watch. I noticed that I just sat and stared possibly not even watching the TV just staring as my eyes glazed over from being so involved with what was displayed in front of me. After watching TV, I thought I had watched an ample amount of TV, but when I looked at my log, it showed I only viewed two shows, even though I watched for more than an hour. By logging what a person watches, I think is very reliable because it shows the peak times that consumers are consuming. Also it helps to determine what shows are being viewed on what programs, which can help companies pick and choose what will be aired and if it will be successful.

Logging TV is not the normal way to watch TV. It causes you to think and analyze what you are watching, why you are watching, and when you are watching on a regular basis. This in a way keeps a person updated of the programs that are shown and how a person’s interest can be changed and affected by the programs he or she watches as different show are aired.
