I usually do not watch television on a regular basis. This assignment actually required me to watch more T.V than I have in probably a month. Even last night's election I only had the chance to see from about 9pm - Obama's acceptance speech. (Go Obama!) I did not watch any shows today that I am a regular viewer of, however I used to watch America's Next Top model religiously.
While channel surfing, I ran across a couple of shows I had not watched before. One being Stylista on the CW and another one called a Real Chance at Love where two african-american gentleman have women competing for their affection, sort of a mix between the Bachelor/ette and Tila Tequila. I only watched it for about 5 minutes so I did not make record of this viewing, but it was a new show that I ran across.
I believe that I would watch more television if I did have a DVR system. I had one at my home in Dallas, Tx and it was great. No commercials, you could rewind, record when you were busy! I hate not having it here, but it makes me value it even more when I go home.
I did not write my television viewing as soon as I found something and waiting until a certain time to switch. Tonight, since I have not viewed television as a lesiure activity for quite some time, I relaxed and enjoyed myself. I would write in my viewing after a few shows/hamburger later. I find that Corpus needs a T.V guide channel to tell you the stations! Flipping through them gets irritating because half of T.V is advertising, so you are flipping through about 75% commercials and not even getting to see what might actually be on. Causing you to miss something you really wanted to watch, but didn't know was on.
Tonight, I found I watched more T.V than I had thought, I have a very busy schedule and the only time I watch T.V during the day is on the weekends, and lately I have been out of town every weekend, making my T.V viewing decrease.
When keeping track of a viewing journal, I find it is not difficult, as long as you have a clock and a channel guide to let you know what channels are so you can label it. I'm from Dallas, and so these channel numbers are foreign to me. I believe it would help keep track, it may not be 100% accurate, but hey, nothing's perfect.
